Symbolism
Arms
The displayed eagle charged with a galley is taken from the arms of the High Chief of Clan Donald, and the hand and cross imagery from those of the Chief of McDonell of Glengarry, one of the five chiefly clans of Clan Donald in Scotland. The red border is the Scottish difference for a third son.
Crest
The raven on the rock alludes to Invergarry Castle, the seat of the chiefs of Clan McDonell of Glengarry, located on Creagan an Fhithich, “the Raven’s Rock”, overlooking Loch Oich in the Highlands of Scotland.
Motto
This Latin phrase means “Neither by time nor by fate”.
