Symbolism

Arms

The pattern of bars suggest a chair, a reference to Mr. Spassiani’s family business as seating manufacturing and upholstery specialists. The five points of the horizontal bar refer to his children. The curved lines recall the main bridge in Sora, Italy, Mr. Spassiani’s homeland.

Crest

The sewing machine is a reference to Mr. Spassiani’s lifelong business in the upholstery and chair manufacturing industry. The palm branch, which in Christian iconography represents victory over adversity, refers to Mr. Spassiani’s Catholic faith, and to how he came from humble beginnings to build a successful business through hard work. The palm also refers to excellence through toil and labour: the first in his family to receive a university education, Mr. Spassiani launched a business which remains at the vanguard of design after thirty years.
