Symbolism

Arms

For Ms. Boulette, the double wheat tressure represents agricultural work, the paths of life, and railway tracks, the latter a reference to her late husband’s work for the Canadian Pacific Railway. The discs make a reference to the family name (boulette meaning “pellet” or a small ball in French). Their number refers to her three children and underlines their importance in her life. Black symbolizes acquired wisdom, the land cleared by her ancestors and the hardships of life, as well as the memory of dear ones departed. Gold symbolizes life, light, goals to attain and the importance of maintaining hope at all times.

Crest

The dove, a symbol of faith and of life, represents for Ms. Boulette hope in spite of the loss of a loved one. The tulip, an indication of the arrival of spring, is her favourite flower. The book symbolizes her family’s history, past and present. It also alludes to Ms. Boulette’s belief in the importance of learning and to her love of reading.

Motto

These French words mean “Serenity, courage, wisdom.”
