Symbolism

Arms

The comet and shells, features found on the arms of Greco families of Italy, honour Mr. Ross’s first Canadian ancestor, George Ross, born Rosario Greco. The three shells also represent the Holy Trinity and Mr. Ross’s faith. The bugle, a symbol of authority used historically to rally people, alludes to his forebears who strove for higher pursuits. The chevron, used as a mark of rank in the military, refers to his years of service in the Canadian Armed Forces. For Mr. Ross, blue symbolizes steadfastness and loyalty, and white symbolizes honour.

Crest

For Mr. Ross, the wolf represents leadership, industry and power. The holly leaves, found in the armorial bearings of Clan Irvine, honour his maternal family.
