Symbolism

The Canadian Heraldic Authority does not have confirmed symbolism for this emblem. The following comments are hypotheses only. The cow’s head evokes the name Cowie. The cinquefoils possibly evoke the Clan Fraser, of which the name Cowie is a sept. The gold border is a mark of a second son in Scottish heraldry.
