Symbolism
Arms
Blue and green are the main colours of the Sardar Chadha tartan commissioned by Mr. Chadha. The Khanda is the symbol of Sikhism, Mr. Chadha’s religious and cultural heritage. The coronet of maple leaves symbolizes his Canadian identity. The pistachios and almonds are products of the family company.
Crest
The gyrfalcon is a Canadian bird of prey, known for its independence, self-reliance and persistence. The falcon is also an attribute of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh guru. The ring refers to the chakram, a circular weapon represented within the Khanda symbol.
Supporters
Lions are closely associated with the Sikh religion, their name in Sanskrit, Singh, being borne by all Sikh men. The lion is also found in emblems of Mumbai, Mr. Chadha’s birthplace, and is used in an emblem by Mr. Chadha’s business. The kirpans are an element within the Khanda symbol and are required to be carried by all Sikh men. The tartan is the Sardar Chadha pattern commissioned by Mr. Chadha. The pistachios and almonds are products of the family company.
Motto
Meaning “Resilience, positive attitude, equality,” these words appear in the languages spoken by Mr. Chadha, English, Punjabi and French.
