Symbolism
Arms
The white shield and blue saltire are inspired by the Arms of Nova Scotia. The swords represent the military aspect of the Institute. The emblems on the red discs represent the four services from which the Institute draws its members: the Royal Canadian Navy, the Canadian Army, the Royal Canadian Air Force, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Motto
This phrase expresses the aspiration of the Institute to be loyal to the Crown, which its members have served.
