The Canadian Heraldic Authority does not have confirmed symbolism for this emblem. The following comments are hypotheses only. The foxes, or “tods” in Scottish dialect, represent a pun on Mr. Todd’s name. The cross may allude to his grandfather the Reverend Hollis Davillo Todd, who was a minister of religion
Crest
The fox repeats the symbolism of the Arms.
Motto
This Latin phrase meaning “One must live” is the traditional motto of Todd families.
