A dexter cubit arm vested Azure doubled Or, the hand proper grasping a bezant, all between a sprig of maple leaves Gules and a thistle slipped and leaved proper;

Symbolism
Arms
The Canadian Heraldic Authority does not have confirmed symbolism for this emblem. The following comments are hypotheses only. The white background and blue horizontal stripe with three gold stars are common features of the arms of Muir families. The gold discs may allude to Mr. Muir’s avocation as a banker, while the maple leaf is a symbol of Canada. A salmon on a red background is also found in the arms of Peebles, Scotland, Mr. Muir’s birthplace.
Crest
The Canadian Heraldic Authority does not have confirmed symbolism for this emblem. The following comments are hypotheses only. The gold disc repeats the symbolism of the Arms. The maple leaves and thistle represent Canada and Scotland respectively, Mr. Muir’s countries of residence and of origin.
Motto
This Latin phrase means “I fiercely insist.”
