The flags surmounted by wings represent the work of a Communicator Research Operator. The letter S refers to the field of signals. The Royal Crown symbolizes service to the Sovereign. The frame composed of one or two wings, a laurel wreath and the Royal Crown is common to all trade and occupational badges of the Canadian Armed Forces.
