Symbolism

Arms

Gold and blue are the colours of the University of Windsor, from where Dr. Vicente received his doctorate. The chevronels in the V-shape allude to his surname of Vicente, and evoke the front of an academic hood. Their number represents his three children, of whom two are twins. The cross recalls the national Portuguese symbol of a cross and appears here as a tribute to his parents who emigrated from Portugal to Canada.

Crest

The owl, a symbol of knowledge and watchfulness, represents Dr. Vicente’s avocation as an Ontario Certified Teacher and his vocation with the Canada Border Services Agency.

Motto

This Latin phrase, meaning “For God and country,” speaks to Dr. Vicente’s faith and loyalty.
