Symbolism
Arms
The tilted blue anchor on gold was used on the emblem of the Toronto Harbour Police and the Port of Toronto Police, the predecessor bodies of the Toronto Port Authority’s Enforcement Officers, from circa 1960 to 1999. It symbolizes the area of operations of the Toronto Port Authority (TPA) in the Toronto harbour area. The wings allude to the TPA’s mandate in law enforcement at the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. The wavy division refers to the Toronto harbour area. Blue and gold are the colours of the city’s arms.
