Symbolism
Badge
The Department’s badge follows the pattern used by municipal police services in Canada. At the centre is the shield of arms of the City of Port Moody originally granted by the Lord Lyon King of Arms in 1988. The arms of the City feature symbols honouring Port Moody’s heritage, the Canadian Pacific Railway and early shipping and forestry in the 19th century. The Royal Crown symbolizes the fact that the Department assists in the administration of the Crown’s justice, while the maple leaves and dogwood flower are references to Canada and to British Columbia.
Motto
COURAGE INTEGRITY SERVICE expresses the character of the mission of the Department.
