Symbolism

Arms

Ermine represents Brittany, the region in France from which Mr. Allen-Petrie’s maternal ancestors came. The chevronny pattern refers to the fact that his grandfather was a builder and that his first maternal ancestor who immigrated to New France was a mason. Blue refers to New France and the French language.

Crest

The stag recalls the fawn that Mr. Allen-Petrie’s grandfather, as a child, rescued and raised on the family farm.

Motto

Meaning “I built upon a rock,” this Latin phrase is based on the parable of the two builders (Matt. 7:24) and refers to Mr. Allen-Petrie’s grandfather’s profession as a builder.
