Arms

Ermine represents Brittany, the region in France from which Ms. Lavigne’s paternal ancestors came. The chevronny pattern refers to the fact that her father was a builder and that that her first paternal ancestor who immigrated to New France was a mason. Blue refers to New France and the French language.

Crest

The stag recalls the fawn that Ms. Lavigne’s father, as a child, rescued and raised on the family farm.

Motto

Meaning “I built upon a rock”, this Latin phrase is based on the parable of the two builders (Matt. 7:24) and refers to Ms. Lavigne’s father’s profession as a builder.
