Symbolism

Arms

Gold and red are the colours of the Clan Logan of Scotland. The pierced heart is based on the main symbol of the traditional Logan arms, and represents Mr. Logan’s adoption of his mother’s surname. The tau cross, in the form of the letter T, represents Mr. Logan’s birth name of Trudeau. The flame evokes the light of learning and thus refers to his role as a teacher, as well as the idea of passion in his motto. The furze is the plant badge of Clan Logan.

Crest

For Mr. Logan, the escarbuncle, an early heraldic charge, represents leadership. The maple leaves indicate his role as the commissioner of the Clan Logan Society of Canada. The heart and nail in this form are from the badge of the Clan Logan Society International.

Motto

This phrase connects to the Passion nail in the Crest.

Motto

This phrase is a response to the motto of the past chiefs of Clan Logan, Hoc majorum virtus, meaning “This is the valour of my ancestors.”
