Crest

The Canadian Heraldic Authority does not have confirmed symbolism for this emblem. The following comments are hypotheses only. The reeds are a canting allusion to the name Sedgwick, which is derived from the Old English word sedge, meaning “grass” or “reeds.” The inkhorn possibly alludes to Mr. Sedgwick’s role as a member of the Royal Commission on the Revision of the Criminal Code in the 1950s.
