Symbolism

Badge

The arm in armour holding three maple leaves, used as the emblem of Canada’s military colleges since the 19th century, was granted as the crest of the Royal Military College of Canada in 1920. The arm alludes to the College’s mandate as a military academy and a university for officer cadets in the Canadian Armed Forces, while the maple leaves embody its Canadian identity. The Royal Crown indicates the royal designation of the College.
