Symbolism
Arms
Black, white and blue are the main colours of the Sorbie tartan. The roses refer to Captain Sorbie’s childhood in Lancashire, England, the arms of which bear three red roses. The lion represents his English background and the courage appropriate to a military officer. The axe was chosen by Captain Sorbie as a weapon illustrating preparedness for war. The coronet symbolizes his loyalty to king and country.
