Symbolism

Arms

Red and gold are colours that remind Mr. Stenner of the Canadian autumnal palette. The pattern of triangles expanding from the centre symbolizes the idea of individual good deeds having the potential for creating a great impact. They also represent how each new piece of information allows us to expand our knowledge of the world. The compass rose alludes to travel and exploration, which are among Mr. Stenner’s greatest passions. It also stands for the idea of a moral compass.

Crest

The greyhound represents Mr. Stenner’s love of animals and of dogs in particular, the greyhound being his favourite breed. The edelweiss alludes both to his passion for the mountains and to his German and Austrian roots.

Motto

This phrase embodies Mr. Stenner’s core belief in using exploration to further our understanding and knowledge of the world, as well as to deal with challenging situations.
