The Canadian Heraldic Authority does not have confirmed symbolism for this emblem. The following comments are hypotheses only. The wings likely allude to Mr. Heather’s membership in the Canadian Aeronautics and Space Institute. The chevron division as well as the pattern of vertical bands are often found in coats of arms of people bearing the surname Heather.

The Canadian Heraldic Authority does not have confirmed symbolism for this emblem. The following comments are hypotheses only. The trillium, Ontario’s emblematic flower, refers to Mr. Heather’s province of residence. The lynx, known for its keen eyesight, possibly alludes to the Motto.

This Latin phrase means “Watchfulness will not fail.”
