Badge
The golden bomb set within the representation of a blast is derived from the badge of a Canadian Armed Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician. This is in recognition that the role once played by the Canadian Armed Forces in explosives response is now the responsibility of Canadian police services. The bomb embodies all types of explosives. Its short fuse emphasizes that time is of the essence when police explosives technicians respond to a call. The blast wave highlights the danger inherent to their work, and its shape symbolizes an explosion, including shock, incendiary, and fragmentation effects. The ray in the shape of a maple leaf indicates the national mandate of the Association’s qualified explosives technicians, whose members belong to police services from across Canada.
