Argent on a bend Azure three stags' heads caboshed Or, in honour point a crescent Sable;
The Arms are shown ensigned by the coronet of a baron;

An eagle wings elevated and addorsed Or preying on an infant in its cradle proper swaddled Gules, the cradle laced Or, all on a cap of maintenance Gules turned up Ermine;

Dexter a griffin wings elevated, sinister a stag Or each ducally gorged attached thereto a line reflexed over the back and charged on the shoulder with a crescent Azure;

Symbolism
Arms
These are the arms of the earls of Derby, with the addition of a crescent indicating that Lord Stanley was the second son of the 14th earl. Stanley became the 16th earl just prior to the end of his term as governor general, upon the death of his older brother.
Crest
This is the crest of the earls of Derby.
Supporters
These are the supporters of the earls of Derby. The crescents repeat the symbolism of the Arms.
Motto
This French expression means “Unchanging.” It is the motto of the earls of Derby.
