Symbolism

The Canadian Heraldic Authority does not have confirmed symbolism for this emblem. The following comments are hypotheses only. The Canadian Centennial Symbol refers to the name of the college, which was founded in 1966, the year before the centennial of Canada’s Confederation. Flames are often used as a symbol of education. Burgundy and white were then the college’s official colours.

The Canadian Heraldic Authority does not have confirmed symbolism for this emblem. The following comments are hypotheses only. The torches represent knowledge, intelligence and truth, all values which a college seeks to emphasize. The chains embody collaboration and cooperation.
