The alder leaf and cones allude to the name Etobicoke, derived from the Mississauga word for “place where the alders grow.” The three sets of wavy blue stripes represent the bodies of water that border the municipality: Etobicoke Creek, the Humber River and Lake Ontario.
Crest
The lamp symbolizes knowledge and education.
