Symbolism
Arms
Blue is a colour that has long been associated with police forces, thus indicating Mr. Falle’s career. The wavy bands represent waves, symbolizing Mr. Falle’s years as a marine unit police officer as well as his love of the water. He feels a particular connection to the martlet, a mythical bird that never lands and is therefore always going somewhere. The fact that it is a Canadian martlet – its wings and tail in the shape of a maple leaf – highlights his nationality. The flame, meanwhile, evokes both Mr. Falle’s time as a volunteer firefighter and a traumatic event that happened while on duty as a police officer.
Crest
The German shepherd is a breed that has been used by police forces for generations. It represents the values of loyalty, determination, strength and resilience. The adult and pup symbolize Mr. Falle’s role as a father.
Motto
This phrase alludes to Mr. Falle’s action during a police incident involving a house fire, in which both he and his partner were seriously injured, and for which deed he was awarded the Medal of Bravery. It also references another incident in which Mr. Falle, as a public security officer, saved two persons from a burning building.
