The shield incorporates the arms of the original County of Waterloo, which was the basis of the arms granted to the Region of Waterloo. The lamb and lion refer to tolerance and neighbourliness, seen as essential ingredients for a harmonious community. The distribution of the seven flowers represents the three cities and four townships forming the Region. The Royal Crown represents the protection of the peace on behalf of the crown. The flower at the base is the provincial flower, the trillium, is appropriate to this police force, and the frame of maple leaves is for Canada.

Motto

PEACE AND PROSPERITY, which recalls the symbolism of the shield.
