Symbolism

Arms

The principal charge, an oak tree bearing fruit growing from a grassy mount, is found in historic arms borne by the Scottish families of Watts and Watson for centuries. The red chevron bearing cinquefoils (stylized five-petalled flowers) is an allusion to the Edgeley family, and both charges combine to represent the main lines in Mr. Watson’s family genealogy.

Crest

The North American robin charged with the Edgeley cinquefoil and grasping a Watson oak leaf in its beak is a visual reference to the family now based in Canada.

Motto

This Latin word means “May it flourish.”
