Symbolism
Arms
The eagle, a symbol of strength, was chosen by Mr. Letovsky to reflect an aspect of his character. The bugle horn signifies the traditional ram’s horn, or shofar. For over fifty years, Mr. Letovsky has been the shofar blower in his synagogue as part of Rosh Hashanah, the beginning of the Jewish New Year. The three maple leaves conjoined at the stem correspond to the pride he has of his Canadian heritage.
Crest
The maple leaf, eagle, and horn echo themes from the shield.
