Arms
The fleurs-de-lis design is based on the arms adopted by the Marion family. The caribou is an animal of importance in the Northwest Territories.
Crest
The tipis are borrowed from the flag of the Tlicho Nation. The caribou is an important animal in the Northwest Territories. The gold sun alludes to the idea of “the land of the midnight sun.”
Supporters
The narwhals allude to the crest of the Northwest Territories, of which Mr. Marion was the 13th Commissioner from 1999 to 2000.
