Arms
The wavy stripe indicates the La Salle River. The railway engine emphasizes the importance of the railway to the development of the municipality since the arrival of the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1882. The wheat refers to the agricultural base of the municipality’s economy, and the six heads of wheat together refer to the six major communities within the municipality.
Crest
The gauntlet holding a cross is found in the coat of arms of the Chief of the Clan Macdonald. The maple leaves emphasize the Canadian identity of the municipality.
Supporters
Bison once roamed the prairies in great numbers, and a bison is the main symbol on the coat of arms of Manitoba. The prairie crocuses are the provincial floral emblem of Manitoba.
Motto
This means “Persevere and flourish”.
