Symbolism
Arms
The red rings are a feature commonly found in Lucas arms, and the Loyalist coronets mark Mrs. Lucas’ descent from United Empire Loyalists. The colours are those found on the Royal Union Flag.
Crest
The blue lion is taken from arms associated with the surname Creighton, and thus refers to Mrs. Lucas’ maiden name. The coronet repeats the symbolism of the arms, and the trillium marks the fact that her Loyalist ancestors settled in Ontario.
