Symbolism

Arms

The breastplate represents military service. Each fleur-de-lis represents a generation of Kleins in the military: Mr. Klein’s grandfather, his father and Mr. Klein himself. They also represent him and his two siblings. The wings allude to St. Michael, patron saint of his father’s military unit, the 2REP, and symbolize Mr. Klein and his son, and their faith in the Roman Catholic Church. White and green allude to Canada’s snow and green forests.

Crest

The bear alludes to Mr. Klein’s ancestors who were among the first Canadian settlers. Like the bear, these settlers were strong and resilient, and they always had to plan ahead by working hard during good weather and by carefully managing their resources during winter. The eleven dogwood flowers indicate that he is the 11th generation born in Canada. This wildflower alludes to the strength and courage of those ancestors.

Motto

This Latin motto means “Do not fear”.
