Symbolism

Crest

The stag alludes to Archbishop Stavert’s association with two Anglican educational bodies, Trinity College, Toronto, and Bishop’s University, Lennoxville, Quebec. A stag appears in the arms of Trinity College, and as a supporter of these arms and of the arms of Bishop’s University. It is also used as a scriptural image (Psalm 42:1). The crozier indicates Archbishop Stavert’s episcopal office.
