Symbolism
Badge
The badge was created by CHS employee Gordon B. Croll in 1954. The blue background and anchor are representative of contributions made by the Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS) to the safety of maritime transportation. The maple leaves evoke the pride in service to Canada and resemble those in the original design, but are now presented in a different position.
