Symbolism
Arms
The green represents nature and the white peace, a reference to the motto. The saltire honours the first Scottish settlers who lived in the Township of Marston, and the fleur-de-lis evokes the French origins of the municipality’s current residents, in addition to situating it in the province of Quebec. The panicled hydrangea is the municipality’s floral emblem.
Crest
Loons nest in a section of Lac Mégantic that borders the Township of Marston. Their cry evokes nature and peace, another reference to the motto. The ancient crown represents the Victoria River that crosses the municipality and was named in honour of Queen Victoria. The maple leaves symbolize the importance of the forest and maple sugar production of the municipality’s residents.
Motto
Meaning "Nature and peace", the municipality has used this motto for a number of years.
