Symbolism
Arms
For Mr. Gozzo, white represents wisdom, integrity and perfection, whereas purple evokes authority, dignity and justice, important qualities in a mayor, Mr. Gozzo having been the mayor of Paquetville, New Brunswick, since 2004. The double-headed eagle recalls the two eagles on the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Sicily. Here, the eagles are represented by a single eagle with two heads to convey Mr. Gozzo’s Italian roots and his Canadian citizenship. The gold star symbolizes Acadia, Mr. Gozzo’s adopted land and place of residence. The two salmon refer to his career with Fisheries and Oceans Canada, as well as his role as a consultant to the fishing industry.
Crest
The stag and the fishing rod symbolize Mr. Gozzo’s two passions, hunting and fishing. The crown of maple leaves illustrates his nationality.
Motto
Meaning “Action not words”.
