Symbolism
Badge
The CN Tower is a recognizable and celebrated Toronto landmark. It is a symbol of strength, stability and support, thus reflecting the support role of the Area Support Unit (ASU) Toronto. The two lions are shown supporting the tower, another allusion to the unit’s role. The white roses represent York and the first military presence in the area. With the two wavy bars, they represent HMCS YORK, a naval unit supported by ASU Toronto. The two wavy bars also evoke Lake Ontario. The motto defines the primary mission of ASU Toronto, which is to support all units and formations within in the Greater Toronto Area.
Motto
This Latin phrase means “We work thus, but not for ourselves”.
