The gloves are a traditional part of a bishop’s vesture: here they use Métis beadwork as a reference to Bishop Redmile’s maternal Métis ancestry. In addition, paternal ancestors of his were glove merchants from France who immigrated to England in the 17th century and who manufactured gloves in Worcester for several generations.
