Symbolism
Arms
The division of the shield suggests the Greek letter chi, an abbreviation for “Christ”, thus honouring the Christian faith of the founders of Paladin Disability Tax Credit Solutions Inc. The saltire division also recalls the flag of Nova Scotia, where the company’s head office is located. Red and white are the colours of the National Flag of Canada, denoting the national scope of the company’s activities. The olifant, a horn carved from an elephant’s tusk, alludes to the paladins of the medieval romance, The Song of Roland, who carried this horn into battle to summon their companions to their aid. It identifies the company as a champion for its clients in their time of need. Holly represents truth and honesty, values the company upholds in all its dealings. The gold berries suggest the “fruits” of honest dealing.
Crest
The basket was traditionally an attribute of a tax collector and represents the company’s dealings with federal tax authorities. The billets within suggest the documents Paladin submits on behalf of its clients and the refund cheques its clients receive in return.
Supporters
The hind, or doe, was the companion of St. Giles, the patron saint of people with disabilities. The stone symbolizes the strong foundations of the company. The olifants and the holly branches recall the arms and the billets, the crest.
Motto
This Latin phrase means "Champion for a just cause".
