Symbolism

Badge

Purple is a colour associated with joint service units. The compass rose recalls the badge of the Intelligence Branch, of which meteorological technicians form a part. The lightning bolt, a weather element that is a significant disruptor to military operations, alludes to all forms of weather. Their position evokes the paddles of a wind anemometer.

Motto

This Latin phrase means “We forecast the weather”.
