As a songbird, the warbler symbolizes Archdeacon Pickett’s accomplishments as a singer. The figure the bird is holding contains pointed stakes, thus alluding to his surname. The X represents the letter “Chi”, the first letter of the name “Christ” in Greek, thus alluding to his calling as a Christian priest.
