Symbolism
Arms
The white colour and the shape of the chevron as a rooftop make a visual allusion to Mrs. Whitehouse’s surname. The white cross refers to her Christian faith as do the haloed lambs’ heads. The trillium represents her public service in Ontario, as well as her love of conservation of nature – trillium plants being found in wooded areas – as does the green and blue colouring of the shield.
Crest
The unicorn for Mrs. Whitehouse symbolizes strength, freedom, purity and creativity. The blue colour and the white stars are inspired by the flag of the United States of America, her birth country.
Motto
This phrase from Isaiah 6:8 speaks of Mrs. Whitehouse’s willing service in Christian ministry.
