The three branches of the Y shape allude to Mr. White’s wife and their two daughters. The disc in the centre refers to him and the central place of volunteerism in his life, while the branches allude to its positive effects spreading to all parts of society – represented by the border – and beyond.

Crest

The gyrfalcon, known for its vigilance and acuity of sight, represents leadership and thus Mr. White’s position as chancellor of the Priory of Canada of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem. The banyan symbolizes constant growth and renewal, two qualities Mr. White has maintained throughout his life. The maple leaves growing on it are a reference to his Canadian heritage.

Motto

Meaning “To serve passionately”, this Latin phrase describes Mr. White’s philosophy and long volunteering experience.
