Symbolism

Arms

The chevrons are featured in other arms of people bearing the name Fleming, and honour the College’s namesake, the engineer and inventor Sir Sandford Fleming. They are composed of angle irons, symbolizing the College’s technology programs. The maple leaves are a symbol of Canada and also represent the applied arts programs offered by the College.

Crest

The goat’s head is featured in other arms of people bearing the name Fleming, and honours the College’s namesake, engineer and inventor Sir Sandford Fleming. The trilliums represent the province of Ontario, where the College is located. The angle irons repeat the symbolism of the Arms.

Motto

This phrase emphasizes the positive results of the College’s work.

Badge

The elements of the Badge repeat the symbolism of the Crest.
