Symbolism
Arms
The diagonal division indicates a lit stage and the darkened auditorium beyond, a reference to Mr. Ransom’s love of theatre and the performing career of Jeremy Ransom, Mr. Ransom’s son. The ermine spots indicate specks of light.
Crest
The bag of money is a reference to the name “Ransom”. The unicorn is a creature of imagination, and its equine characteristics refer to Jeremy Ransom’s love of horses. The ermine wings link the crest to the pattern in the arms.
Motto
This Latin sentence means “The body is language” and indicates the importance of communication through performance.
