Arms

The puffins are a feature of the Gaspé region of Quebec, from whence Dr. Guité’s paternal family hails and where his parents met. The stripes have two meanings: first, they resemble wire strung between poles and thus allude to telephone lines, marking the fact that Dr. Guité is President and C.E.O. of Vermont Telephone Company, Inc. Second, since the stripes resemble waves, they also allude to his father’s service in the Royal Canadian Navy in the Second World War. The green colour refers to the name of the state and to his place of residence, Greenwich, Connecticut.
