Symbolism
Arms
Stripes represent geography and land. The vertical stripes symbolize the rich and varied location, size and geographic realities of the provincial and territorial medical regulatory authorities, the members of the Federation. The white triangle reflects the role of the Federation in assembling its members. The rod of Aesculapius is the traditional symbol of medicine. Gold represents the sun, and green creates continuity with the previous emblem of the Federation.
Crest
The red-tailed hawk is endemic to most regions of Canada. It represents the oversight role of the medical regulatory authorities of this country. The horn symbolizes communication and the call to members.
Supporters
Bears are represented in the only constellations that never set below the horizon of the sea, symbolizing certainty and continuity. The black bear and the polar bear are powerful beasts that represent leadership and are found in the vast expanse of our country.
Motto
These words create two synonymous phrases: “Confiance collective” in French and “Collective trust” in English.
