Arms
The design is based on the arms attributed to the name “Lautenschläger”, which was the name of Mr. Lautens’ great-grandfather who arrived in Canada from Austria in the 1870s. Mr. Lautens’ version has the arrows in black rather than gold, and with the background divided into eight rather than four. The colours of red and white allude to both countries.
Crest
The crest is also based on that of Lautenschläger with the addition of a coronet of crosses patté.
Motto
This German motto means “Always certain”.
