The Arms of the Corporation of the City of Nelson (Vert an antique crown Or between in base a fess wavy Argent charged with a salmon naiant Gules and a chief dancetty Argent, as registered by the Chief Herald of Canada on the 20th day of July 1997 in Volume III, page 191 of the Public Register of Arms, Flags and Badges of Canada) within an annulus Vert edged Or and inscribed with the Motto in letters Argent, all within a wreath of maple leaves Or issuant from a dogwood flower proper, the whole ensigned by the Royal Crown proper;

Symbolism
Badge
The form of the Badge follows a traditional style of police badge with maple leaves for a Canadian police service rising from the provincial flower. The Royal Crown ensigns the Badge to indicate that the police serve to uphold peace and order of the Crown. The central shield is that of the Corporation of the City of Nelson.
Motto
The motto means “Forge ahead” and expresses the idea of moving with determination in a forward direction.
